Toad in the Hole Recipe.

Ingredients:

8-10 pork sausages
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dried thyme
2 eggs
1 ¼ cups milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Recipe Instructions:

Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Sausages:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place the sausages in a baking dish or ovenproof skillet and drizzle them with vegetable oil.
Roast the sausages in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until they start to brown, turning them once halfway through cooking. Remove them from the oven and set them aside.

Make the Batter:

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and dried thyme.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and crack the eggs into it.
Gradually whisk in the milk, starting from the center and incorporating the flour mixture until a smooth batter forms.
Continue whisking until any lumps are fully dissolved.

Rest the Batter:

Let the batter rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. This will allow it to thicken slightly.

Bake the Toad in the Hole:

Pour the batter over the partially cooked sausages in the baking dish or skillet, ensuring they are evenly covered.
Place the dish back in the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the batter is golden brown and puffed up.
Avoid opening the oven door during baking, as it may cause the batter to deflate.

Serve and Enjoy:

Remove the Toad in the Hole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Cut the dish into portions and serve it alongside your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, peas, and onion gravy.
